Learn to make a small wall hanging for your home or office! Weaving can be a fast and meditative way to make a unique accent piece for your home or a gift for a friend. In this afternoon workshop you'll learn how to warp a small tapestry loom and make a unique and abstract wallhanging. Class fee is $45.00 and will include materials, but you're more than welcome to bring a favorite yarn, or other unusual materials, from home to incorporate into your design. No previous experience necessary.
In this evening workshop we’ll go over 3 methods for mending clothing and help guide you in the right direction as you revive a favorite piece of clothing. From traditional Japanese sashiko stitching, to darning by hand, to sewing sturdy patches by machine you will learn how to effectively bring a piece of beloved clothing back from
the brink. Bring your worn out jeans, your moth eaten sweater from Grandma, or your best jacket. Visible mending will add visual interest to your clothing, as well as bring the gratification of finishing a project quick! No experience necessary.
Come dye things! An introductory experience in dyeing natural fibers with common plants that you find in your garden and kitchen, and exotic plants that grow on the other side of the world. We will be explaining the basics of fiber selection, mordanting, and the dying processes for natural fibers. We'll have a variety of different dye vats going, and you can select from a pre-mordanted (yes, we will explain what that means!) yarns or silk fabric that you can choose between and take home with you! The class fee includes all materials. This class is ideal for both teens and adults.
