Join us for a fun workshop as we stitch up eye pillows and stretch out our bodies in this afternoon of self-care. During the “stitch” portion, we will make eye pillows with scrap material and natural stuffing such as organic buckwheat hulls and lavender from the Echoview Farm. For the “stretch” session, we will practice postures to free up the body by inviting movement and ease, culminating in deep relaxation with the use of our handmade eye pillows. Attendees will receive a handout with poses, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to incorporate these practices at home.
About the craftivity:
Materials will be provided. While we will do some simple stitching, previous sewing experience isn’t necessary.
About the yoga:
Please bring a yoga mat and blanket. If you don’t have these items, let us know and we will do our best to provide them for the day of the workshop. Wear clothing that allows freedom of movement. Practitioners must be comfortable getting up from and down to the floor without assistance. All levels are welcome!
About the Teacher:
Melanie began practicing yoga in 2008, and by 2012 became certified to teach at the 500 hour level. She admires everything about the practice - from the physical results, to the mental benefits, to the creative freedom. It wasn’t until she started knitting in 2017 that she realized how similar the two practices are, and began a blog exploring the thread between stitching and stretching. Today, she enjoys moving and making while encouraging others to join along. You can find Melanie online at www.stitchandstretch.com or on Instagram @stitchandstretch
