Gift Guide: For the Knitter
This holiday season we have decided to do a round-up of our favorite products for the different interests and lifestyles shared by our customers, and ourselves! We put these guides together in case you’re shopping for someone who fits into one of these descriptions, or you find yourself suited to a list and you decide to pass along the link with someone you know that is on the gift hunt for you!
All of the items in this gift guide will be marked 20% off until December the 20th.
This guide is for the knitter. We don’t have to tell you who a knitter is - you already know. They have a “stash” of yarn that sometimes occupies an entire room. They frequently have several projects going, and some that never get finished, yet they spend hours on Ravelry looking for their next project. They tend to travel with extra bags full of yarn and knitting “just in case”. They love long flights, and even delays at the airport, because they get the most knitting done on planes, and their vacation destinations usually involve a place where they can sit and knit. When it comes to yarn, they buy the good stuff.
Get Right to the Yarn:
Two of our most popular yarns are beloved by both beginner and seasoned knitters. Haley is a blend of 65% USA Superfine Merino, 25% American Alpaca, and 10% American Mohair. This yarn is so soft and squishy, it feels like knitting from a dream. The color is derived from the natural colors of the alpaca and wool, while the addition of the mohair gives the yarn a little sheen - that’s why Mohair is called the “Diamond Fiber”. Our Ranger Merino Yarn is a blend of 90% USA Merino Wool with 10% locally sourced Rambouillet Wool that gives the yarn a slight heathered quality. Available in DK and Bulky, this yarn comes in 11 colorways, all named after local WNC birds. Beloved for its squishy feel, this yarn is perfect for colorwork.
A Pattern of Gifting:
If you’re a bit concerned about simply gifting yarn because you don’t see how the stash can get any larger, a knitting pattern book, like Within, by Jane Richmond and Shannon Cook, is a wonderful gift because it is loaded with patterns that will help your knitter work through some of the skeins that have collected over the years. Alternately, our Sunrise Garden Shawl knit kit is a wonderful gift because it comes with both yarn and a delightful to knit pattern that is one of our most popular designs. Fun and quick to knit, this shawl kit comes with needles, a project bag, stitch markers, the pattern, and 3 skeins of naturally dyed yarns - you can opt for the “Mystery Box” option and let us pick the colors to perfection.
Tools can make a project a joy, not having the right needles, on the other hand, can stop a project before it even gets started. We love the Lykke needle interchangeable set because it comes with an array of needle sizes that you can pair with varying lengths of cord, giving you the right needles for virtually any project. The best part is that if you need to adjust needle sizes while you are swatching for a project you don’t have to go back to the store and buy a different pair of needles to obtain the right gauge. The one thing that the Lykke kit can’t help with is a good set of cable needles! For that, we have hand sewn these Little Essentials Tool Cases that contain a beautiful birch set of 3 cable needles, 3 stitch markers, and 3 tapestry needles. There is plenty of space in this little tool case for any additional cable needles you might already have at home!
Accessories, Accessories, Accessories:
Maybe your knitter already has all the needles, books, patterns, and yarn that they could possibly want in this life, thankfully there are always the little things that will bring them equal amounts of joy. We all use and adore these little accessories and they are all under $15 (!) which makes them perfect stocking stuffers or gifts for a knitting friend.
